Tekes Hadlakat Masuot - Monday, 19 April 2010, 7:15pm following Yom Hazikaron

The rapid transition from the solemn day of Yom Hazikaron to the joyful celebrations of Yom Ha’atzmaut is a strange and difficult one. To acknowledge this changeover a commemorative ceremony, Tekes Hadlakat Masuot, (Ceremony of Lighting the Torches of Honour) is held at Har Herzl Military Cemetery.

Yom Ha’atzmaut 2010 presents a unique opportunity to bring this special concept to Sydney
and engage in a similar Tekes, honouring members of our own community with the privilege to light a candle acknowledging aspects of Israel. This ceremony will open the Yom Ha’atzmaut celebrations and will be a moving expression of our Community’s dedication to Eretz Yisrael.
