The State Zionist Council of New South Wales is the roof body of 48 Zionist organizations in New South Wales.
We lead and encourage Jewish and Zionist activity and expression in NSW, we represent the Jewish Community, promoting and communicating Israel's interests within the broader NSW community and promoting NSW's relationship with Israel.
We provide the avenue and framework for the support of Israel in many ways including:
- Supporting the five Zionist Youth Movements in Sydney; Betar, Bnei Akiva, Habonim Dror, Hineni and Netzer, the Australasian Union of Jewish Students and the WZO Hagshama Department.
- Coordinating the annual commemorations and celebrations of the State of Israel, including Yom Ha'atzmaut, Yom Ha'zikaron, Yom Yerushalim and Rabin Memorial.
- Developing deeper connections between the NSW Jewish community and Israel, in particular attempting to include a wider cross section of the community in activities.
- Actively engaging with the general NSW community with a view to expressing, explaining and promoting Israel's interest.
- Conducting cultural, educational and informational activities and events.
- Creating an atmosphere within the community which values Zionist thought and expression, the Hebrew language and culture, and pride in Israel and its achievements.
- Promoting and fostering Jewish communal voluntary and professional leadership and management.
- Fostering intercommunity understanding and tolerance and taking an active role in the NSW multicultural community.
